Remedial Massage FAQs

Remedial massage therapy is commonly used for immediate relaxation of pain and muscle spasms, whereas physiotherapy is geared more towards rehabilitating an injury or condition.
Some people enjoy a weekly massage, however most clients book for once fortnight or month. How often may depend on how well your body responds after your session.

The aim of the normal massage might not be to reduce pain or to heal any dysfunctions nor conditions. Its role is often to relax the body and mind.

A remedial massage assists in rehabilitation, pain, and injury management. Based on individual conditions, signs & symptom, a remedial massage therapist will rule-out all the red flags and create a patient-centred treatment plan that works toward the individual’ goals. There is no ‘gold-standard’ treatment plan. All treatment plans are unique and tailored to the specific person to help them to improve and restore functions.

All our registered massage therapists have training in knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology & physiology.

Remedial massage can reduce soft tissue tension and pain (van den Dolder, Ferreira & Refshauge, 2010), reduce anxiety and nervous tension (Frost-Hunt, 2020), improve joint mobility (van den Dolder, Ferreira & Refshauge, 2010), improve blood flow that leads to better lymphatic circulation, promote the healing process and boost the immune system Frost-Hunt, 2020. It prevents and alleviates general, activities-related and postural muscular symptoms. It also reduces excessive scar tissue formation. Various forms of remedial massage techniques include dry needles, trigger point, myofascial release, joint mobilization, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) and more.

During your appointment the therapist will assess your movement and pain to then map out a treatment plan to best assist the area of complaint with an aim to return you to full function.

Your therapist quick verbal confidential discussion about the treatment risks and benefits, before starting. After your massage, you will be given a non-pharmacology treatment plan, including soft tissue work & home care (exercises) that work toward your goals.

We as that you’re punctual for your appointment, disclosure of accurate health information and medical history and fully commit to your treatment plan!
